This is Fiddlers’ Bid‘s third album, following their 1998 album Hamnataing, and comprises many traditional and contemporary tunes. Some of these are written by band members but mainly they are from the Shetland Islands, where their roots lie.
Over the years Fiddlers’ Bid has delighted audiences around the world with their dynamic, vibrant sound and earlier in 2001 they travelled all the way to Tasmania to take part in the Ten Days On The Island Festival.
With four outstanding fiddlers, acoustic guitar, bass, keyboards and Scottish harp they create an exhilarating sound, developed from Shetland’s rich tradition of fiddle music but given a fresh approach by the fiddlers, backed by the driving rhythm section.
Kevin & Maurice Henderson (fiddle), Chris Stout (fiddle, viola), Andrew Gifford (fiddle, guitar), Catriona McKay (Scottish harp, piano), Steve Yarrington (acoustic guitar) and David Coles (bass guitar).
