Deaf Shepherd - Ae Spark O’ Nature’s Fire

First album from the popular traditional group Deaf Shepherd.

Their turbo-charged performances are packed with tastefully done ballads, and inventive high-energy arrangements of wild reels and cracking jigs.

The band comprised Clare McLaughlin (fiddle), John Morran (vocals, guitar), Rory Campbell (vocals, Highland bagpipe, Scottish smallpipes, whistles), Malcolm Stitt (bouzouki, guitar, Hammond organ) and Angus McLaughlin (vocals, bodhran).

A talented bunch, some of whom have gone to other things: Rory Campbell to Old Blind Dogs, Malcolm Stitt to Boys Of The Lough and John Morran to various solo projects, working with Dr Fred Freeman on his Complete Songs of Robert Burns series, and more recently on Greentrax’s Hamish Henderson Tribute Album vol 2.

“Unlimited in their musical style… very impressive all round…”
(The Living Tradition)
